mission and  leconimendatinn.
VIII.  While  this  I'luin-h  regards  itself  as  free  and  inde-
pendent, subjeel  oidy  to  the  u'overnuient  of  Jesus  Chris-t,  it  ac-
knowledges the  obligation,  and  rejoices  in  the  privilege,  of  tel-
lowship  with  other  Churches,  and  of  seeking  ei>un-<el  fiuui  them,
and  of  giving  counsel  to  them,  in  cases  of  ditiiculty  or  import-
ance.
IX.  In  all  meetings  fur  busiitess,  the  <;hurch  shall  be  o-,,v-
erned  by  the  usual  rules  of  urder  fur  delib.'rative  bodies.  Ap-
pointments and  elections  may  be  made  eitlier  by  nomination  or
by  ballot  ;  and  they  shall  be  made  by  ballot,  whenever  three  or
more  members  reipiest  it.
X.  There  shall  bo  a  Treasurer  appointed  by  the  Church
from  among  the  I>eacons,  who  shall  have  the  care  of  all  money
raised  or  given  fur  the  use  of  tin,'  Churcli.  He  shall  pay  frum
such  money  all  demands  ujion  the  Churi'h  authorised  bv  them,
and  shall  advance  to  the  Lieacons  such  sums  as  th>'V  shall  re-
quire for  the  expenses  of  the  Communion  table,  or  fur  the  ic-
lief  of  i)Oor  members  ; — and  shall  render  Ins  accouiit  tu  the
Cliurch  annually,  of  all  his  receii)t3  and  disbursements.
THE    STANDING    COMMITTEE.
XI.  There  sludl  be  elected  every  third  year,  bv  ballot,  three
members,  who  sliall  be  a  Standing  Committee  of  the  Church,
and  shall  have  the  puwers,  and  perform  the  duties,  specilied  in
the  fol!i_)wing  articled,   viz.  :
1.  It  shall  be  the  duty  vt'  this  Committee  to  iii,juire  iutu  all
public  offenses  in  this  Church,  which  may  come  ti;)  their  knowl-
edge by  complaint,  oi-  utherwise.
