THE  LADIES'  BENEVOLENT  S0CIP:TY,
Or  Social  Meeting  of  the  Church  and  congregation,  is  held
in  the  Lecture  room  once  a  fortnight  (usually  on  a  Thursday),
from  the  month  of  October  to  April  inclusive.  It  was  organ-
ized in  December,  1853,  for  the  purpose  of  a  common  union  in
labors  of  beneficence,  and  for  the  mutual  acquaintance  and  fel-
lowship which  such  an  union  promotes.  Every  one  of  the
Church  and  congregation  is  expected  and  cordially  invited  to
attend.  A  public  notice  is  given,  from  the  pulpit,  of  each
meeting  on  the  Sabbath  next  preceding  it.
STATED  CONTRIBUTIONS.
The  principal  objects  of  Christian  benevolence  presented
during  the  year  are  the  following.
Foreign  Missions.
Home  Missions.
American  and  Foreign  Christian  Union.
American  Bible  Society.
The  Conofrenrational  Union.
American  Tract  Societies.
American  Education  Society,  )  ^^^^^^^
Western  College  Society,  )
Seamen's  Friend  Society.
American  Missionary  Association.
Sabbath  School  Library.
In  addition  to  the  above,  otlier  worthy  objects,  which  call  for
Christian  cooperation,  are  occasionally  brought  to  the  notice  of
the  Church.
There  is  a  monthly  contribution  at  the  Lord's  Supper,  for
the  Church  treasury,  to  be  expended  according  to  the  provisions
of  Rule  VIIL
