In  January,  1844,  upon  a  careful  examination  aud  analysis
of  the  Catalogue,  our  living  membership  was  stated  to  be  in
in  the  aggregate,  including  99  absentees,  615.  Additions  by
profession  and  letter,  and  removals  by  death,  dismission,  or
otherwise,  varied  this  number,  so  that

In  1855,  the  Church  decided  that  non-resident  members,  who
could  give  no  satisfactory  reasons  for  not  removing  tlieir  rela-
tions to  some  other  Christian  Church,  should  be  regarded  as
no  longer  under  our  watch  and  care.  By  virtue  of  this  decision,
in  January,  1856,  our  number  was  reported  as  reduced  to  429.
