cording to their ability, for its support; who absent
themselves tVom the Lord's Supper; who traffic in
or use intoxieatinix drinks, exce])t tor manufacturing
or medical purposes; or whose general depoitment
is grossly inconsistent with the spirit of the Gospel.
2. Tlie object of disci])line l^eing to keep the
church {)ure, deter others from sin, and benefit the
offender, we hold its watchful exercise to be a
solemn and important duty.
3. In all cases of private offences, the rule as
given in the 18th chapter of ^latthew's Gospel, is
to be strictly observed.
4. In cases of public and notorious offenses, the
churcli, as a body, may proceed to call the ottender
to an account, by a committee appointed for that
purpose.
MISCELLANEOUS.
1. All questions shall be decided by a majority
of votes given by male members, not under 18
years of age, present at any meeting of the church
duly notitied.
2. Xo business, connected with discipline or
Otiier important matters, shall be transacted at any
meeting of the cliurch, unless public notice is given,
in coimection with the appointment of the meet-
ing, that business will then be brought before the
