tian doctrine,  which  they  bold  and  tench  In  their  organic  capacity  as  a
Church o(  Christ,  without  requiring  us  a  condition  of  membership,
that  a  Candidate  f«h;ill  fully  receive,  or  even  perfectly  understand
every  part  of  it.  Those  who  are  weak  in  the  faith  should  study  it  for
their  own  personal  groa  th  In  knowledge,  searching  the  Bcripturei  to

1,  We  believe  that  there  is  one  only  living  and  true  God,
the  Father,  the  Son,  and  the  Holy  Ghost,  a  being  of  every
possible  perfection,  infinite  in  power,  wisdom,  holiness,
justice,  goodness  and  truth.
2,  We  believe  that  the  Scriptures  of  the  Old  and  Now
Testaments  are  given  by  inspiration  of  God,  and  that  they
contain  the  only  perfect  rule  of  faith  and  practice.
3,  We  believe  that  God  made  all  things  for  himself;
and  that  he  governs  the  universe  according  to  the  counsel
of  his  own  will,  and  that  all  events  will  be  made  subser-
vient to  his  wise  and  benevolent  designs.
•1.  We  believe  that  man  was  created  in  the  image  of
God,  in  a  state  < >f  rectitude  and  holiness;  that  lie  fell  from
that  state  by  transgressing  the  divine  law;  and  that  in  con-
equenco  of  tho  original  BpOStacy  the  heart  of  man  in  his
natural  state  is  destitute  of  holiness  and  inclined  to  evil;
and  that  all  men,  previously  to  regeneration,  are  dead  in
trespasses  and  sins.
